Before Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation
To help ensure your safety and comfort, please carefully follow these instructions before your procedure:
- Do not eat or drink anything, including water, for six (6) hours prior to your appointment.
- Do not smoke for at least 12 hours before surgery. Ideally, reduce or stop smoking as soon as possible before the day of surgery.
- A responsible adult must accompany you to the office, remain in the office during the procedure, and drive you home afterward.
- Do not drive a vehicle or operate any machinery for 24 hours following anesthesia.
- Wear loose-fitting clothing with sleeves that can be rolled up past the elbow. Please do not wear high heels or flip-flops.
- Contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures must be removed at the time of surgery.
- Do not wear lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish on the day of surgery.
- If you develop an illness such as a cold, sore throat, stomach upset, or bowel issues, please notify the office as soon as possible.
- Take all routine medications as prescribed unless you have been given different instructions by your surgeon.
